I acquired some new lighting equipment the other day, namely a Profoto D1 kit with two monoblocks, stands, and umbrellas, plus a carrying case. Very nice. Below is a photo of my daughter Megan that I made while playing around with them right out of the box. Click to enlarge.
Note this is from a hand held Nikon D7000 at ISO 100, 85mm, f/13.
She is looking more or less directly at the key light fired through a translucent umbrella, with a reflector off to her left for some fill. The second block is aiming down from behind her to illuminate her hair, and this one is a little hot. I don’t have much in the way of shaping tools yet – for a reflector, I am using a white foam board from the craft store – but I will be working on that.
I’ll be trying out some projects around the house, and will post the results here soon.
